Factors That Causes Diabetes

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Diabetes is considered to be a metabolism disorder. The body needs energy from food that we eat. The food is broken down into glucose which is a form of sugar in the blood. Glucose makes it ways to the bloodstream. It can’t enter our cells though within the absences of insulin.

Insulin is the hormone produced by the pancreas. After you eat your meal, pancreas automatically release the required insulin to move the glucose in to the bloodstream at the same time lowering the blood sugar level. If you have diabetes, the quantity of glucose is too high. The reasons would be: body is not producing enough insulin, it creates nothing at all or the cells are not responding to the insulin which was produced.

Whichever is the reason, glucose develop in the blood and eventually pass out of the urine. Although a lot of glucose exists but the cells of the body are not getting it for the growth and the energy requirements. Causes of Diabetes are not really known but here are some of the factors that may eventually lead to diabetes:

Heredity plays a huge role in developing diabetes. About 25% are prone to develop when it runs in the family for several years. Maintaining the level of the glucose while the mother continues to be pregnant should be considered so that diabetes will not be passed on to the child.

Controlling or monitoring your diet plan helps prevent having diabetes. Never consume food with too much fats, carbohydrates and proteins. They are saying too much of everything is not good for the body. This is why your body needs a balanced diet to avoid ill effects of obesity. Obesity is the most common factor since everyone has a problem dieting.

Too much fat in your body affects the normal functioning of insulin in your body. Insulin supposes to be allowed sugar present in the bloodstream to move in to the tissues and muscle cells. Because of the increase in fats, tissues and muscle becomes resistant to insulin resulting to diabetes.

Age is yet another factor. As you grow old, you’ve got a greater chance of developing diabetes. Person only at that age becomes less active will gain weight and later pancreas will no longer work well. But today age is no longer an issue because even children of all ages develop diabetes for other reason.

Emotional stress as well as people smoking also causes diabetes. Anyone who is a candidate of higher glucose content in your body needs to consider all these factors. It might be to your advantage if everyone lives well. Check out http://causesofdiabetes.org/ for great details.

Blood Glucose In A Diabetic Diet

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

For all of us to understand Diabetes, it would be a good idea to understand first how glucose has been processes in the body and what is its relationship using the diabetes.

Glucose is a form of sugar that’s said to be the source of the energy the body needs. It comes from the food that you simply eat and from the liver. During the digestion process, sugar is absorbed within the bloodstream with the assistance from the insulin. Insulin on the other hand is a hormone that comes from the pancreas, a gland that’s found just behind the stomach.

When you eat anything, the pancreas automatically secretes insulin into the bloodstream. The insulin here acts a lot more like a key, wherein it unlock microscopic doors allowing the sugar to enter the cell. Another function of the insulin is to lower the amount of sugar. When the level of sugar drops in your body, the secretion of the insulin also drops.

The liver acts as the storage area of the glucose. It is also the manufacturing center. If you haven’t eaten for a period of time, the liver releases the glucose which was stores in order to keep the glucose level in your body still within normal range.

One of the major factors that cause diabetes is diet. Our body needs fuel thus we have to eat but there must be limitations. Eating too much of fats, proteins and carbohydrates are harmful to the body. Generally a balanced weight loss program is important in order produce the energy that we need and for the body to perform its vital functions.

Too much food, especially those unnecessary impedes the pancreas from doing its job of secreting insulin. Therefore if there is an insufficient secretion of insulin, the level of sugar rises resulting to diabetes mellitus or simply diabetes. Normally people tend to eat refined carbohydrates in the form of cakes, ice creams, biscuits, bread, pudding, along with other sweet foods which increases the risk of high blood glucose level resulting to diabetes. You can still enjoy consuming foods rich in carbohydrates but are advised to limit the intake because it could elevate the glucose to some critical level.

Children are not exempted from developing diabetes. Actually anyone from nine years above can have diabetes. It should be the responsibility of the parent to teach their children when it comes to dietary habits. For a moment allow them, they will eat anything anytime they want not knowing whether it is good or not in the body.

Overeating can lead to obesity which is another factor causing diabetes. Children should not be given candies, jams, cakes, chocolates along with other sweets which are loaded with carbohydrates at the same time foods that are definitely not good for the teeth. Although it is very hard to follow, children must be out on a healthy diet which is essential for their growth and development.
